
Antoinette Thornton is the Owner and Executive Director of Residential Adolescent Community Services, Inc. She is a dedicated Generalist Social Work Practitioner who holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from an accredited university and is recognized as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP). With more than 20 years of experience in the human services field, Ms. Thornton has devoted her career to improving the lives of children, adolescents, and families impacted by mental health and substance use challenges.
Throughout her professional journey, Ms. Thornton has served in a variety of leadership and direct-service roles, including Program Director of a residential group home and Admissions Coordinator for a respected substance use treatment facility. Her extensive experience includes facilitating mental health and substance abuse groups, providing individual support services, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care and positive outcomes for individuals with mental health diagnoses, including those with co-occurring substance use disorders.
Ms. Thornton's expertise includes reviewing and implementing clinical assessments, Person-Centered Plans (PCPs), crisis plans, and treatment strategies designed to support consumers and their families. Her commitment to person-centered care and community engagement has enabled her to build strong partnerships with numerous public and private organizations throughout Mecklenburg County, including collaborations with local government agencies and community stakeholders.
Driven by a passion for service, Ms. Thornton believes that children and adolescents are among society's greatest assets and future leaders. She has dedicated her career to creating safe, structured, and supportive environments where young people can develop the skills, confidence, and resilience necessary to thrive.

The organization's mission is to help children and adolescents better understand their mental health needs, connect with community-based resources such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), develop healthy coping skills, and build a strong foundation for a successful transition into adulthood.
